July 11th – The Top 5 Moments Of My Life!

“What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t happened yet…”

Hi all!

Welcome to Day 11 of my 31 Day Blogging Challenge! Today, I am going to share with you the top 5 moments of my life. I really loved writing this post as it allowed me to reflect on happy, wonderful times. Without further ado and in no particular order, here they are:

1.) The Day We Got Engaged:

August 8th 2015 – The Mekong Delta, Vietnam

Francis and I had spent the most perfect day cycling through the rice fields of Ho Chi Minh, eating delicious vegan food & sailing along the Mekong Delta. The last part of the tour included a private boat ride on a tiny sampan through the jungle. I was so happy turning this way and that as we cruised along the river that I didn’t notice Francis pull a box out of his backpack and get down on one knee. When I realised what he was doing, I cried and threw my arms around him. Little did we know that the tour guide filmed the entire experience as well. As a celebration, we drank from coconuts on the side of the road and the rest of our trip passed by in a dream. We called it our Engagement Moon. The best part of the day was I didn’t see it coming in the slightest. Francis was the first man to ask me to marry him and I know he will be the last. I cannot wait for our wedding that is less than four months away!

2.) The Day I Met Anne Rice:

Most people that know me, know that Anne Rice is my favourite author of all time. On October 30th (good things happen on that day!), 2014 in New Orleans, I met her in the church she was baptised in. It was honestly one of the best days of my life. I could not stop beaming from ear to ear. I had already spent an incredible week in one of the best cities in the world and on our last night before flying home, I got to speak to my idol.

3.) The Day The Nook Flooded:

In the town I grew up in, there is a place called The Nook which is basically a reserve filled with greenery and lakes. My friends and I would always walk through it to get to and from school. One day, we went to school and were told we could go home due to flooding. We were in Year 9 at the time and we all went back to Graham’s house (my best friend) whose house was on top of where The Nook began. Police were warning everybody to stay away from The Nook that day but my friends and I went to check it out. Sure enough, we had never seen the water level so high before. The lakes were overflowing and the only way to get from one side to the other was to swim…so we did! There was literally nobody else around so we spent the day swimming in The Nook and navigating over slippery rocks and bridges. Just ask any of my friends…we all  agree that was one of the best days of our lives and I still think about it with a massive smile on my face.

4.) The Day I Graduated From Deakin University:

Not my graduation photo sorry!

To be honest, I didn’t want to share my graduation photo because in 2011, I was at my heaviest weight but that doesn’t change the fact that it was still one of my happiest moments. I had completed 3 wonderful years at Deakin University and I will never forget the moment I heard my name being called out as I walked across the stage and accepted my degree. I received a high distinction Bachelor of Arts with a Major in History and Minor in Philosophy. I got to wear the cap and gown and celebrate with my family afterwards. I really loved my entire University experience but my graduation was the icing on the cake!

5.) The Day My Books Were Published:

Order ‘Astrology Pond’ Here!

Order ‘Facing the Stars’ Here!

Nothing will beat the moment when my dreams came true. I had never expected to write a book in my lifetime let alone 2 and have them both published. I will never forget how I felt seeing them both in beautiful novel form. I love the story I created and the characters I’ve fallen in love with. I love that I was able to dedicate the novels to my grandfather, mother and dearly departed Eve. The best part is the final book in the trilogy is currently being written so I can experience another wonderful moment in the future!

I’ve had so many top moments in my life, it was really difficult to name just 5. I am filled with so much gratitude for the experiences I’ve already had and the ones I know are coming like our wedding, our children being born and future travel destinations. Life really is what we make it so make it a good one!

See you tomorrow!

Peace & Love xoxo
