April 1st-Who Is My Favourite Disney Character?

Advertisements

Hi all!

Welcome to my 2017 Blogging Challenge! For those of you that know me, I am a complete Disnerd. Even as an almost 28 year old adult, I still re-watch the movies regularly and find it all so magical. As a tribute to the Beauty and the Beast live action movie that came out in March and to Aladdin the Musical which I am seeing next month, I decided to dedicate the next 30 days to one of my favourite things in this whole world: DISNEY!

The first challenge question for Day 1 is: Who is my favourite Disney character?

*I sourced these challenge questions from several different images I found on Google and put the best ones together.

This was so difficult because how do I possibly choose just one out of the hundreds of lovable Disney characters that have graced our screens over the years? I also have so many categories and sub-categories when it comes to my favourite characters. For example, I have a favourite princess, prince, villain, animal, sidekick and more. Would you believe I spent months thinking about this question and changed my mind constantly? For this reason I decided to add honourable mentions at the end of each post. Finally, when I got right down to it, I decided to go classic. Who did I love right from the very beginning? That was easy…

GOOFY!

I have loved Goofy ever since I was a little girl, especially his adorable laugh: ah-hyuck which always made me giggle and his bashful catch-phrase gawrsh. One of my favourite childhood movies that my sister and I have watched over 20 times (no joke) is The Goofy Movie. We know all the lines and it never gets old for us. When I was younger, my parents took us to Disney Land in California and I could not wait to get a photo with Goofy. When I finally tracked him down, I went to line up but it was too late and he had to leave. My mum said it made her so sad to see me burst into tears, my childish heart full of disappointment.

Goofy is kind, caring and ever loyal to his friends Mickey and Donald. Did you know his original name was Dippy Dawg? It was later changed to Goofy Goof (yes that’s his surname) and has remained till present day. He was created in 1932 as an anthropomorphic dog at Walt Disney Productions on May 25th (making him a Gemini like me). He has been voiced by seven different people over the ages and has a son named Max Goof. His deceased wife Penny, is mentioned in the original Goofy Shorts (short-movies) which makes him a widower. He is described as an eternal optimist, half-wit and gullible Good Samaritan. He also makes an adorable Tsum Tsum!

What I love about Goofy is his gigantic heart. He loves his son and friends dearly and is always super positive. He can go from being a peace-keeper to a fearless and protective companion. He is a character of great merit and a wonderful influence. For this reason, he is my all-time favourite Disney character. If you have not yet watched The Goofy Movie, please do. It is seriously one of the best cartoon films I’ve ever seen.

Honourable Mention:

Jack Skellington from Nightmare Before Christmas

Who is your favourite Disney character? What makes them special to you? I’ll see you tomorrow for Day 2!

Peace & Love xoxo
