LUSH Halloween Bath Bombs – Product Review!

Hi all!

Today I’m going to share with you a personal review of 5 bath products I picked up from the new Halloween Range at LUSH. Thank you to my dear friend Mabel Kwong for suggesting I write this post. As it is currently October, I thought it would be fun to show what I thought of these spooky yet unbelievably adorable goodies. One of my absolute favourite ways to unwind after a long day is soaking in a hot tub with a good book. The experience is even more satisfying when you have a sweet-smelling accessory to pop in as the water flows. In the last couple of weeks, I’ve had several baths testing out these 100% vegan beauties and the results varied from underwhelming to amazing. Without further ado, let’s get into this review!

#1 – THE PUMPKIN KING – BATH BOMB

I was immediately drawn to this bath bomb because as you know, I adore The Nightmare Before Christmas. The main character, Jack Skellington, is also called The Pumpkin King and I believe LUSH did a great job of capturing his cute face. I was actually sad to see it slowly dissolve. As shown in the photograph below, the bath bomb turns the water a deep orange. I was pleasantly surprised to see a layer of yellow underneath as it began to break apart. My entire bath smelled of spicy cinnamon, orange and a hint of sweet vanilla. I noticed that the scent lingered on my skin the next day which was really lovely and that it didn’t stain my tub. Just to clarify, there are no pumpkin related ingredients in this product. It is much more citrus based. I love the design, smell and relaxation effect of this bath bomb. 4/5 STARS!

#2 – MONSTER’S BALL – BATH BOMB

Can we just take a moment to appreciate how cute this bath bomb is? The design alone is a clear winner. As soon as I popped this baby in, streams of pink, blue and purple swirled everywhere. It was extremely aesthetically pleasing. Furthermore, the bomb itself was filled with glitter that continued to sparkle on my skin the very next day. The entire bath smelled of delicious candy grape. This product contains lime, neroli and olibanum oil with would you believe, vegan dark chocolate? It felt super nourishing and slippery on my legs. Once again, I was happy to see that it didn’t stain my tub. I would definitely buy this one again. 5/5 STARS!

#3 – ECTOPLASM – JELLY BOMB

img_3675

Based on the iconic Ghostbusters movie, the Ectoplasm Jelly Bomb is designed to break down under running water and produce a gooey substance. Unfortunately, this product was the most disappointing of the five. I didn’t see nor feel anything resembling jelly or goo and the water turned a sickly, green colour below that wasn’t overly inviting. Not only that, the fragrance (tangerine and grapefruit) was very faint – I could barely smell anything. Its only redeeming qualities were the cute design and the fact that it didn’t stain my tub. I don’t have much more to say about this bath bomb except that I wouldn’t recommend it. 1/5 STARS.

#4 – BEWITCHED – BUBBLE BAR

img_3796

In case you are wondering, a bubble bar is similar to a bath bomb but can be used more than once. Simply break off chunks at a time to pop in your tub and conserve the rest for another day. This design is so adorable. It makes me think of Salem, the black-cat in Sabrina the Teenage Witch. I only used half and it filled my bath with lots and lots of bubbles. The water turned black, matching my toe-nails as you can see below. The main two ingredients are bergamot and olibanum oil. I enjoyed the scent and feel but it didn’t wow me. I gave this one 3/5 STARS.

#5 – LORD OF MISRULE – BATH BOMB

This baby was so much fun! When I popped it in the bath, neon greens and pinks emerged, swirling together to create a spooky combination. Once it had finished dissolving, the water turned a deep red. It felt like I was bathing in actual blood! The smell was so intoxicating. This product contains exotic, earthy scents such as patchouli oil, black pepper oil and vanilla. The design is a little bland compared to the others but the smells and effects were on point! 4/5 STARS.

  1. And you reviewed the Lush Halloween collection! Thank you so much for the mention my dear friend! This post was lovely to read and loved your honest opinion. Had no idea some of these bath bombs stain the tub, and it’s nice that none of these products seem to do that. Reading your post, I like the Jack Skellington one best – such a cute fact and that orange is such a bright, upbeat colour 🙂 Hope you are doing well my friend and enjoy the warm weather as it lingers. Cannot wait to see you again x

    1. Hello my friend! You are very welcome, I really appreciate the idea you had. The Jack Skellington bath bomb was super cute, I was sad when his face began to dissolve under the water haha. I am loving this weather as I’m sure you are too! See you soon xxox
