The Journals I Am Using In 2018!

Hi all!

By now it is pretty obvious that I love to journal. It is something I do every single day without fail and what I call, my form of meditation. In 2016, I posted all of the journals I was using that year (see Why I Love To Journal & You Should Too!). Today, I am going to be sharing all of the new ones I have accumulated since then, for 2018. I will detail what they are for, how often I write in them and where I got them from. There are so many different types of journals that can assist you with staying organised, getting creative and even learning to love yourself. I hope this post inspires you to start your own regular practice of putting pen to paper.

JOURNAL #1

‘WE’RE ALL MAD HERE’ – ALICE IN WONDERLAND INSPIRED DAILY JOURNAL

I received this notebook in a lucky dip on Christmas Eve. How fitting that out of all the presents, I picked a journal. I love the cover, Alice in Wonderland quote/image and lined pages. I use this one purely for daily reflection. Usually, I will just write about my day or what I am grateful for. It’s a great way to record the little things that have happened throughout my year. I don’t believe this is still available for purchase but I know it was bought from Typo.

JOURNAL #2

‘LITERARY LISTOGRAPHY’ – BOOK LIST JOURNAL

img_4765

I asked my mum to get me this one for Christmas. Listography sells list journals for all sorts of topics: friendship, music, movies, travel, romance, family etc. I really wanted the book edition for obvious reasons. Basically, this journal is filled with prompts that revolve around your reading life. Each page has a lovely design on the left and a question on the right to answer in list format. For example, it might ask: ‘which books made you cry‘ to which you would note down as many as you can think of. I decided to complete one list every Tuesday. This allows me to add some books read in 2018 to my answers. You can buy a copy here.

JOURNAL #3

‘THE HAPPINESS PROJECT ONE-SENTENCE JOURNAL’ – A FIVE YEAR RECORD BY GRETCHEN RUBIN

img_4758

This type of journal is so much fun to use and perfect for those that don’t like to write pages and pages. You are given only a couple of lines to write down one meaningful sentence a day for five years. I love how I can now reflect on what I was feeling/thinking at the exact same time in 2017. It amazes me how so many things I manifested back then, have come true. You can buy a copy here.

JOURNAL #4

‘DRAW SOMETHING EVERYDAY’ – 365 PICTURE JOURNAL

img_4761

My manager bought me this journal for Christmas, also from Typo.
For 365 days, you are given blank pages to draw whatever you like. At first I was really hesitant to use it because to put it bluntly…I am the worst artist in the world. Even my stick figures are woeful. But then, I decided to treat it as a challenge. I downloaded basic ‘learn to draw’ apps on my phone to help me form my images. I have to say, I am actually really enjoying daily drawing. I’m still terrible but sometimes my pictures are decent enough which makes me feel proud for not giving up.

JOURNAL #5

‘EXPECTING YOU’ – A KEEPSAKE PREGNANCY JOURNAL BY AMELIA RIEDLER

img_4762

This is truly the best pregnancy keepsake I have found. It is filled with the most beautiful quotes that have made me cry, thoughtful prompts/questions and a section for notes. Every single month you are asked to write how big baby is, how you’re feeling, how you’re body has changed and what you’re doing to get ready for your little one. This is such a nice thing to show your children someday. Grab a copy here.

JOURNAL #6

‘SUNFLOWERS’ BY VAN GOGH – A JOURNAL TO MY FUTURE CHILDREN

img_4764

Speaking of gifts to give your future children, this is the most special journal I have ever owned. I started writing in this keepsake in August 2016. It is filled with pages and pages of love for our children to read one day when they are older. I’ve included life lessons, photos, drawings, poems and letters detailing how unbelievably loved they have been long before they were even conceived. When I went to Europe for a month, I wrote down all of our adventures in there every single day. I’ve since ordered another as this one is nearly full. It’s been so nice including weekly pregnancy updates in there as well. Click here to get the same one.

JOURNAL #7

‘MY LITTLE BOOK’ – BOOK REVIEW JOURNAL

img_4759

I wouldn’t know where to get this now. I found it in a clothing store a few years back in the accessories section. It is a basic lined notebook that I turned into a book review journal. After finishing a novel, I print out the covers of the books I’ve read, stick them on the left and review them on the right. I include the headings: Genre, Rating, Date Started/Finished, Review, Favourite Quote & Favourite Part. For Christmas, my sister bought me an official book review journal (see below) which looks amazing! Once I complete my current one, I will start using hers right away. You can get that one here.

BONUS ‘JOURNAL’

‘365 DAYS OF WONDER’ – AFFIRMATION BOOK BY R.J. PALACIO

img_4760

Okay, this is not a journal but I wanted to include it in this post because I use it every single day. You may be familiar with the heartwarming novel & film adaptation, Wonder by R.J. Palacio? Well, this book is based off of that story. Each page contains an inspirational quote from a famous person in history for 365 days. Every morning, I send the affirmation of the day to my mum and we discuss it. I love this concept so much. You can grab a copy here.

Thank you so much for reading! Please let me know down below which journals you are using in 2018 or which one, out of my list, was your favourite. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Peace & Love xoxo

  1. That’s a lot of journals! I’d never be able to keep up. I have a few also. My favorite is my bullet journal cuz I can do all kinds of journaling/lists in one. I love journals/planners.

    1. Haha it is a lot but I love it so it never feels like a chore 🙂 I tried keeping a bullet journal but I’m not very artistic so it looked terrible. I think they are really cool though! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. This is quite a few journals you have! Really like how they are all so colourful with such amazing designs 😊 I used to journal writing down all my thoughts. These days I just have a diary where I list out what I want to do each day and plans for the weeks and months ahead 🤗 Hope you are well my friend 🤗😊💕
