The A To Z Bookish Survey!

Hi all!

I am super excited to be sharing the A to Z Bookish Survey with you all today. I’ve seen it floating around the internet for some time now, so naturally I had to give it a go. I sourced my questions from The Perpetual Page-Turner. Click the name to read her responses. We’ve got 26 questions to get through so let’s get into it!

Author You’ve Read The Most Books From:

I was actually surprised to learn that my most read authors were tied with 23 books each. My first is Cate Tiernan. She wrote my favourite series Sweep, plus some other amazing works of magical realism. My second is Darren Shan. He wrote my beloved Demonata series as well as the vampiric Saga of Darren Shan. Anne Rice and Cassandra Clare were runners up!

Best Sequel Ever:

Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. Never have I been more in love with a sequel. I know I link this post frequently but if you want more info, check out Illuminae & Gemina by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff (Spoiler-Free) Book Review.

Currently Reading:

I currently have 2 books on the go. I’m listening to The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan on audiobook and reading One Of Us Is Lying by Karen McManus. I recieved the physical copy for Christmas.

Drink Of Choice While Reading:

On hot days, lemon water. On cold days, herbal tea.

E-Reader Or Physical Book?

Definitely physical! There is nothing like it!

Fictional Character You Probably Would’ve Dated In High School:

I most likely would’ve dated Quentin Jacobson from Paper Towns by John Green. I found myself really relating to him throughout the story. He is sweet, shy, nerdy and a really loyal friend.

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:

Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor! If it hadn’t been for my book club, I probably never would’ve picked it up. It was so magical and whimsical. I fell madly in love with everything about it. You can read my mini spoiler-free review here.

Hidden Gem Book:

Thanks for the Trouble by Tommy Wallach. I was so blown away by this contemporary story. It follows a boy who hasn’t spoken a single word in five years. One day, he meets a girl with silver hair who claims to be quite older than she looks. Together, they form an unforgettable connection. I won’t give anything else away.

Important Moment In Your Reading Life:

The day I met Anne Rice in New Orleans on Halloween Eve in the church she was baptised in. Yep it’s quite a story! You can read all about it here.

Just Finished:

More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera. You will see more of my thoughts in my upcoming February Wrap Up.

Kinds Of Books You Won’t Read:

I’m not a huge fan of war/survivalist stories or anything too religious or political. Other than that, I’ll read almost anything.

Longest Book You’ve Read:

That would have to be A Dance with Dragons by George R. R. Martin coming in at a whopping 1,040 pages!

Major Book Hangover Because Of:

Without a doubt, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K Rowling. I will never be over this series ending. This is why we re-read – so we can keep the magical wizarding world alive!

Number of Bookcases You Own:

I own two. One that you would’ve seen in my post: My Mini Rainbow Bookshelf Tour! and another which is much larger and holed up in my mum’s garage, waiting until we move house. I cannot wait to use it again.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:

Dork in Disguise by Carol Gorman. This is one of my favourite books of all time. It holds such a powerful message of being true to yourself.

Preferred Place To Read:

Either curled up in bed or in a bubble bath.

Quote That Inspires You/Gives You All The Feels From A Book You’ve Read:

I did a whole post on my favourite bookish quotes! You can check it out here.

Reading Regret:

My biggest reading regret is that I will never get to read all of the books in the world!

Series You Started And Need To Finish (All Books Are Currently Out):

The Heroes of Olympus Series by Rick Riordan. I am currently on Book #3 – The Mark of Athena. I can proudly say I am up to date with every other series I have started.

Three Of Your All-Time Favourite Books:

HARD QUESTION! But I’ll go with…

1.) Lord Loss by Darren Shan

2.) Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

3.) Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

Unapologetic Fangirl For:

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. Enough said!

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:

Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff!!! This is the third and final installment in the phenomenal Illuminae Files trilogy. I am attending the book launch in Melbourne on March 9th which I could not be more excited for. I have also pre-ordered the Obsidio Box from The YA Chronicles. I will be doing an unboxing post on my blog next month so stay tuned for that!

Worst Bookish Habit:

Reading many books at the same time. I call it a blessing and a curse!

X Marks The Spot: Start At The Top Left Of Your Shelf And Pick The 27th Book:

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. Loved it!

Your Latest Book Purchase:

They Both Die at the End by Adam Silvera. I have been told this book will break me into a million pieces but I cannot wait to read it!

ZZZ-Snatcher Book (The Last Book That Kept You Up WAY Late):

The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. I remember reading it last year in Europe and refusing to sleep until I reached the end. I could not put it down!

I hope you enjoyed this tag! Feel free to do it too and link me your responses.

Peace & Love xoxo

  1. Loved getting to know your reading habits, Bec! Can totally understand why you like reading at home. It is also my favourite place to read knowing it’s a place with minimal distraction. Harry Potter was also a series I really enjoyed, and the ending was not what I expected but feels like all the plots came full circle in the end 😊 Congrats to the winner KaraLee for winning the comp! Looking forward to catching up my friend. Take care 🤗😊💙
