What’s On My Kindle!

Hi all!

In 2017, my husband bought me a Kindle Paperwhite E-Reader for my birthday. I absolutely love it. I used it throughout my entire trip to Europe. Whilst I will always prefer physical books over electronic ones, I think it’s great that we live in a world with eBooks. There are so many positives to reading through this medium. Today, I wanted to share with you all the books I own on my Kindle. I bought most of these off Amazon Daily Deal which I highly recommend subscribing to. You can find amazing discounts that save you buying the books full price. All of my eBooks are organised under the heading: Collections, which helps me keep track of where they are and what I want to read next. Without further ado, let’s get started!

#1 – VICTORIA SCHWAB

This is my beloved Victoria Schwab collection. The only book of hers that I’ve read so far is Vicious, which was amazing. I will provide a spoiler-free review and plot summary in my February Reading Wrap-Up.

I bought This Savage Song and Our Dark Duet on Amazon Daily Deal. All I know about this duology is that it’s set in a world where violence breeds actual monsters.

A Darker Shade of Magic, A Gathering of Shadows and A Conjuring of Light were also purchased at a discounted price. This magical trilogy follows Kell, a smuggler who can travel between alternate realities of London. I cannot wait to dive into this series.

#2 – PIERCE BROWN

Red Rising by Pierce Brown is the first book in a dystopian/science fiction series set on Mars where society is completely ordered via a colour-coded system. It has been on my TBR for a while now, so when I saw it pop up on Amazon Daily Deal, I couldn’t resist. The rest of the books however, are still full price.

#3 – SASSYBOOKCLUB

This collection holds all the Sassy Book Club picks for 2018. As you can see so far, I have purchased Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor (January), Girl in Pieces by Kathleen Glasgow (February) and A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle (March).

#4 – THE MAGICIAN’S HOUSE QUARTET

I have already discussed The Magician’s House Quartet by William Corlett in my January 2018 Reading Wrap-Up! Click the link for a plot summary. It is a middle-grade series I loved as a child that I recently re-discovered. From left to right, I have The Steps up the Chimney, The Door in the Treehouse, The Tunnel behind the Waterfall and The Bridge in the Clouds.

#5 – AMIE KAUFMAN/JAY KRISTOFF/MEGAN SPOONER

Unearthed is Amie Kaufman and Megan Spooner’s latest release that I just had to get after it was described as a mix of Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones in space. How awesome does that sound? From what I know, this story follows two main characters that explore a planet named Gaia believed to be a treasure trove. I truly hope I like this novel as I really disliked The Starbound Trilogy co-written by the same two authors. I’ve included Jay Kristoff in Collection #5 because he also co-writes a lot of books with Amie Kaufman including The Illuminae Files which are phenomenal. #6 – OTHER

This collection holds random books – mainly non-fiction. From left to right, I have How to Love by Thich Nhat Hanh, The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz, The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle, The Everything Vegan Pregnancy Book by Reed Mangels and My True Love Gave to Me edited by Stephanie Perkins (twelve short stories by different authors).

#7 – ACOTAR SERIES

I LOVED this trilogy by Sarah J. Maas. From left to right, I have A Court of Thorns and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury and A Court of Wings and Ruin. They are based off of a loose Beauty and the Beast re-telling that takes place in the faerie world. A Court of Frost and Starlight will be released in May which I’m super excited for.

#8 – DARREN SHAN

Darren Shan is one of my favourite male authors. I have pledged that one day I will read every single one of his works. At the top left, we have Koyasan which was an incredible short story written for World Book Day in 2006. It follows a girl that must push past her fear of ghosts in order to save her kidnapped sister.

Evil and the Pure, Sunburn and An Other Place are stand-alone, adult books written under his pen name, Darren Dash. I bought all three thanks to the Amazon Daily Deal. I love the creepy covers!

#9 – CASSANDRA CLARE

Cassandra Clare is one of my favourite female authors. To date, I have read every single book she has ever published. I am particularly obsessed with The Dark Artifices trilogy that is set in the Shadowhunter world. Lord of Shadows is Book #2 and sequel to Book #1, Lady Midnight. I read this whilst I was in Florence. It was an epic, tear-jerker that left me shooketh! I am hanging for Book #3, Queen of Air and Darkness. 

#10 – JOHN GREEN

I have also read every single book John Green has ever written including his latest, Turtles All the Way Down, which follows a girl suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It wasn’t my favourite of his but I still enjoyed it.

#11 – THRONE OF GLASS SERIES

I love this fantasy series so much. Sarah J. Maas is an amazing author with a talent for writing badass female characters. From left to right, I have The Assassins Blade (a prequel novella), Throne of Glass, Crown of Midnight, Heir of Fire, Queen of Shadows, Empire of Storms and Tower of Dawn (told from the perspective of Chaol Westfall). The 7th and final book in this gripping saga will be released in October. I cannot wait to see how it ends. To summarise, this story follows Celaena Sardothien, an assassin who is promised freedom from slavery if she competes in and wins the King’s tournament to become his personal hit-woman. There is a current television show adaptation in the making!

#12 – PATRICK NESS

I’ve mentioned this book on my blog several times because I loved it so much. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness absolutely broke me. It follows a little boy who is struggling to come to terms with the fact that his mother is dying from cancer. One night, a monster visits to help him deal with his emotions. The film adaptation made me cry just as hard.

#13 – THE NEXT TOGETHER SERIES

This trilogy by Lauren James really impressed me! It was so much better than I expected. From left to right, I have The Next Together, Another Together (novella) and The Last Beginning. The basic plot follows two people that meet and fall in love in every single lifetime but always end up dying together. There is a huge focus on time travel, historical events and past lives. I’m not sure why Another Together says 99%. I finished the whole thing!

#14 – THE MARA DYER TRILOGY

This psychologically thrilling YA series by Michelle Hodkin is fantastic. From left to right, I have The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, The Evolution of Mara Dyer and The Retribution of Mara Dyer. We follow Mara who wakes up in a hospital with no memory of the accident that killed all of her friends, except her. When she returns home, Mara tries to lead a normal life but she starts hallucinating and having vivid visions that mess with her mind. It didn’t take me long to finish because I was dying to find out what really happened!
