New Vegan Hotspots in Melbourne! #3

Hi all!

Today I am sharing with you three new fully vegan/vegan-friendly places I ate at in Melbourne over the last month or two. I feel so lucky to live in such a progressive city. Let’s do it!

HOTSPOT NO.1 – URBAN PROJUCE

Located: 315 Montague St, Albert Park VIC

Urban Projuce is a Wholefood Cafe and Juice Bar. The entire menu is plant-based, however you can add eggs on request. It is the perfect place to have brunch. You can order a wide variety of healthy dishes from smoothie bowls to burgers to pancakes. There is also an extensive list of smoothies, desserts, juices, coffees and teas. The place itself is beautifully decorated with an option for outdoor seating.

What I Ate: The ‘Dragon Bowl Z’ which is made with a blend of acai, dragon fruit, mango, strawberry, peach, banana, coconut milk, dates, nuts, seeds and peanut butter.

The presentation is absolutely beautiful as you can see. So many fresh fruits in vibrant colours. It is also extremely filling, especially if you add granola or peanut butter. I loved this healthy breakfast option and would definitely order it again. My sister had the tofu scramble (plate above mine). My only negative is that it’s quite an expensive place, therefore I would only come here every now and then for a treat.

HOTSPOT NO.2 – HERBIVORE

Located: 361 Chapel St, South Yarra VIC

Herbivore is a 100% vegan falafel bar that is quite new to Melbourne. You can choose from six plant-based burgers, four wraps/pockets, salads, sides, juices and smoothies. There is limited seating inside and outside but you can take away. The staff are also very friendly.

What I Ate: The ‘Beet It’ Burger which is made with Herb’s Mayo, relish, beet pattie, beetroot, red cabbage, avocado, lettuce and vegan cheese.

To be perfectly honest, I think I ordered the wrong burger for me. It was tasty but a bit too much beetroot. I guess that’s what happens when you order a beet burger! I loved the cheese, the bun and the pattie. They were the best parts. I also ordered a mango smoothie (not pictured) that was insanely delicious! Similar to Urban Projuce, this place is a tad pricey but worth it.

HOTSPOT NO.3 – AUNT MAGGIES

Located: Shop 7/8 Lygon Court, 380 Lygon Street, Carlton VIC

I am absolutely in love with Aunt Maggies. They opened up near my work several months ago and now I eat there at least two times a week. There is a huge organic grocery section and a cafe where you can buy lunch. The food served is not 100% vegan but there are so many options you will always have plenty to choose from. You can order yummy salads (my favourite is the Fusilli Pesto and Roast Potato), wraps, smoothies, acai bowls, sweets and more. There are also stores in Malvern and Fitzroy.

What I Ate: Raisin Bagel smeared with Tofutti ‘Cream Cheese’ and topped with fresh figs, dukkah and agave syrup.

I could honestly eat bagels every single day. This is my favourite from the Aunt Maggies range. I love the balance of sweet and savoury. It’s perfect for a warm day. Also, if you haven’t tried Tofutti ‘Cream Cheese’, I highly recommend you do. It’s so good!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Let me know what your favourite vegan foods are down below.

Peace & Love xoxo

  1. The beetroot burger looks so, so, so good! But I think I can understand why you said it wasn’t thee burger for you. I’m actually not a huge fan of beetroots and a small slice of it is usually enough for me. Generally I’m more of a savoury person lol. The ‘cream cheese’ looks and sounds like it tastes like real cream cheese. Did you get the bagel toasted, or do you prefer the non-toasted ones? I usually like my bread toast unless it is super, super soft! Hope you are well my friend xxx
