Today I am back with another book tag! I can’t help myself – they are just so much fun to do. I sourced the questions from Paper Fury (please click the name to check out her responses). I really like the idea of associating colours with emotions. I believe somebody who does this frequently is called a synesthete? I would Google synesthesia if you have more questions about this interesting condition. Anyway, enough rambling. Let’s get into it!
#1 – BLUE: A BOOK THAT MADE YOU SAD
Violet Markey has just lost her sister in a car accident. She survived but Eleanor didn’t. Theodore Finch suffers from depression and has a difficult family life. The pair meet on top of the school bell tower where they had both been planning to jump and so their story begins. As their relationship develops, Violet finds more and more reasons to live whilst Finch is pulled into a deeper, darker spiral. You will cry!
#2 – RED: BOOKWORM PROBLEMS THAT MAKE YOU ANGRY
– Books with stubborn stickers on them
– When someone reveals plot spoilers on their social media
– Cover changes that look awful
– A book series that starts off strong and ends badly (*cough* Allegiant)
#3 – YELLOW: UPCOMING BOOK YOU’D BE HAPPY TO HAVE RIGHT NOW
This book was released early May in Australia, however I pre-ordered it on Book Depository so I had to wait for it to be published in the UK before it was dispatched. However, it should arrive soon and when it does, I will be reading it! It has been described as Romeo and Juliet meets Mad Max meets Blade Runner meets X-Men. If that doesn’t intrigue you, how does a sidekick named Lemon Fresh sound?
#4 – GREEN: FAVOURITE UNLIKELY FRIENDS
Celaena Sardothien and Lysandra from the Throne of Glass Series by Sarah J. Maas.
I don’t want to give away any spoilers but let’s just say, these women start off as bitter enemies and by the end, you couldn’t find two people more devoted to one another. The final book in this epic series, Kingdom of Ash, will be released late October. I cannot wait!
#5 – GREY: A BOOK YOU ARE TOTALLY EMOTIONLESS ABOUT
I loved The Maze Runner, felt only so-so about The Scorch Trials and had zero emotion towards The Death Cure. I couldn’t even tell you what happened. In my personal opinion, it was a very weak and boring ending to a trilogy that had so much potential. Sorry!
#6 – PINK: A BOOK ENDING (NO SPOILERS THOUGH!) THAT YOU LOVE
If you have read this phenomenal book, I am sure you agree that the ending is fantastic. It’s extremely feel-good and satisfying. You know how it’s going to end from the first page yet, it still fills you with joy watching it all unfold. I watched the movie adaptation in March. I had a few issues with it but I understand that many changes had to be made due to copyright laws. Did you like the film?
#7 – PURPLE: A BOOK YOU NEVER REALLY UNDERSTOOD
I’ve mentioned this book on my blog before but I didn’t understand one word of it. I feel like James Joyce purposely tried to confuse his readers. What is this book even about? What even happens? I don’t remember any of it!
#8 – WHITE: AUTHOR YOU’RE SCARED OF (THEY’RE SO MEAN TO THEIR CHARACTERS!)
George R.R. Martin – need I say more??? I’m still not over The Red Wedding!
#9 – BLACK: A BOOK YOU THINK IS POWERFUL AND INFLUENTIAL
I sound like a broken record on this blog but the answer to this question is without a doubt, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.
Please read my spoiler-free review here to see why I believe everybody should read it!
#10 – ORANGE: PLAYFUL CHARACTERS WHO ARE JUST TOO ADORABLE
August Pullman from Wonder by R.J. Palacio.
This sweet little boy stole my heart in 2017 when I read Wonder for the first time. Auggie has such a brave spirit and refreshing sense of humour. He’s also not afraid to make fun of himself. I just wanted to reach into the book to hug and kiss him. Many happy and sad tears were shed.
Thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed. Feel free to do this tag and leave links below so I can read your responses.
Peace & Love xoxo
