The Myers Briggs Book Tag!

Hi all!

Today I am coming at you with a very fun and unique book tag. This was created by Jaded Reader on Book Tube. You can check out her original video here. It is called The Myers Briggs Book Tag. For those of you that don’t know, the Myers Briggs test is an introspective, personality quiz that indicates differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world around them and make decisions. Several years ago, when I worked at Melbourne Business School, I had to be properly tested in order to attend a leadership course that took place over three days. It was during that program that I first discovered I was an INFJ, which is a very rare type and makes up less than one percent of the population. Since then, I’ve taken the test two more times and gotten the same result. We recently tested my husband too and he is also an INFJ but has a T (Turbulent) whereas I have an A (Assertive). That’s a whole other addition to the test that you can research if interested. If you want to find what you are, you can take this short, free test here.

In order to fulfill the requirements of this tag, you need to learn your type first. The first acronyms review whether you are more I (Introvert) or E (Extrovert). The second acronyms assess whether you make decisions based on S (Sensing) or N (Intuition). The third acronyms conclude if you tend to follow T (Thinking) or F (Feeling) in everyday life. And finally, the fourth acronyms indicate if you lean more toward J (Judging) or P (Perceiving). Following that, you need to answer the prompts according to your type. You can find all of the questions here. Without further ado, here is my personal take on the tag!

(I) INTROVERT: You can be outgoing, but need to recharge with some calming solitude, Where is your favorite place to read & unwind? Why is this little oasis where you choose to go?

My favourite place to read is in a nice, hot bath. I love soaking in a tub filled with sweet-smelling bath salts and a good book. I’m at my most relaxed in this environment. It’s a quiet, calming oasis for me to absorb the words on the page. It’s such a great way for this introvert to recharge!

(N) INTUITION: Some books are meant to be understood and others are meant to be explored. What book or character stands for an idea that is deeply meaningful to you?

For this question, I am going to go with the novel Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid. It explores a Sliding Doors type concept where two very different stories play out based on one decision. It discusses the philosophy of fate and whether our choices are already predetermined or whether we are entirely accountable for the path life takes us. I believe that everything happens for a reason and could talk about this topic for eons. This book definitely stands for an ideology that is deeply meaningful to me and fits in with the fact that I am an N. I intuitively make decisions and believe my gut is telling me which road to take.

(F) FEELING: Not everything needs to be realistic, where is the fun in a world with limits? Which fantasy world do you find so atmospheric you slip inside and never want to leave? (Put simply a book with good vibes)

Yes it is cliche and probably everyone’s answer but I have to be honest. Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry from the Harry Potter series is without a doubt the most atmospheric, fantasy world for me. I would never want to leave this prestigious magical school if I was a student there. One day I’ll receive my letter! I couldn’t be a bigger F if I tried (that doesn’t sound right…) and that translates into my reading life as well. I feel the characters, the world, the plot, the atmosphere and the emotions that come from the pages.

(J) JUDGING: All play and no work leads to chaotic disorder…and anarchy.  How do you structure and balance your reading, blogging, and personal life to better use your time?

Being a stay at home mother with only one child makes it a lot easier for me to priortise reading and blogging. When our daughter naps or after she goes to bed at night, that time is mine to use as I will. My blog, reading and writing are my biggest passions, so it’s not difficult to make time for them when it’s what you love and fills you with joy. I believe the J fits my personality more than any of the others. I am not even close to being a P. With my anxious personality, I like things structured and fixed. Anything that is flexible and open-ended tends to make me nervous. I think that’s why I am so vigilant with my blogging. No matter what happens, you will always get a post from me every Monday morning at exactly 9:45am. I’m not a last minute person and I definitely don’t let plans form as they go. I schedule all of my blogs ahead of time and make many a list. Serious J!

INFJ: THE COUNSELOR: Yes, we’re a bit odd but we’re also filled with intuition and empathy. What is a book you would recommend to a friend having a hard time. (You can have a friend in mind if that helps!)

When I’m having a hard time, I want to read a story that has a happy ending with plenty of feels along the way. Any book by Morgan Matson can provide this (well…maybe not Second Chance Summer because that is one of the saddest books I’ve ever read) but none more so than The Unexpected Everything.

Andie has a plan and she always sticks to the plan. Future? A top tier medical school. Dad? Avoid as much as possible (which isn’t that hard considering he’s a Congressman and never around). Friends? Palmer, Bri, and Toby – pretty much the most awesome people on the planet, who needs anyone else? Relationships? No one’s worth more than three weeks. So it’s no surprise she’s got her summer all planned out too. Until a political scandal cancels her summer pre-med internship, and lands both her and Dad back in the same house for the first time in years. Suddenly she’s doing things that aren’t Andie at all – working as a dog walker, doing an epic scavenger hunt with her dad and maybe, just maybe, letting the super cute Clark in closer than expected. Palmer, Bri and Toby tell her to embrace all the chaos, but here’s the thing … can she?

Ahhh I love this book so much. It made me very happy! Read it if you’re feeling blue and need a pick-me-up. It is the perfect INFJ recommendation!

I hope you enjoyed this fun and different book tag! What type are you? If you do this tag, please link your responses down below! Thanks for reading.

Peace & Love xoxo

  1. Omg this is SUCH a cool tag!!! I’m an ISFJ, which is apparently known as “the Defender”? Learning about personality types is so interesting!
