Hi all!
Welcome to Day 1 of Blogmas! This is my very first time doing this, so I’m super excited. I will be blogging every single day from the 1st December to the 25th December. I thought the best way to kick-start things was by doing The Christmas Tag. I sourced these questions from Root Report so click on their name to check out the original post. I’m excited to get into the Christmas spirit so let’s do this!
1.) As a kid, did a sibling ever receive a present that you wished was for you?
I really don’t think so. My sister is three years older than me and has different tastes, so I never felt envious of her gifts.
2.) Be honest: do you like giving or receiving gifts more?
I definitely prefer giving gifts. When I was a kid it was the opposite, but as an adult when you can buy whatever you need, it’s much nicer being able to spoil others and get creative.
3.) Do you make New Year’s Resolutions? Do you stick to them?
I used to but I honestly don’t anymore. I find it only sets up people to fail. Instead I try to create a theme – I wrote a whole post about this here. My theme for 2020 is going to revolve around self-discovery and overcoming past trauma.
4.) Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
Yes! This is a family tradition of ours. I’m going to write a whole Blogmas post on how my family celebrates Christmas so I won’t expand on it here.
5.) Do you visit the poor on Christmas Day?
I have never done that but I would like to do more charitable things with my daughter as she gets older.
6.) Have you ever made a snowman?
In Australia, Christmas always takes place in summer so I have never made a Christmas snowman, but I have when I went to see snow during the winter years ago.
7.) How many gifts do you receive on Christmas?
It is different every year! When I was a child, I obviously got more but as an adult I still get a decent amount and feel very privileged for that.
8.) How do you decorate your house during Christmas?
I will do a photo diary during Blogmas to show you our tree and decorations so stay tuned for that!
9.) Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
It’s fake! It’s much easier to keep and store away year after year if the tree is fake.
10.) What is your most memorable Christmas/Holiday moment?
I’m going to write a whole Blogmas post about it!
11.) Tell me about a person who makes your Christmas very special.
100% my daughter! I love being able to celebrate with her now and I hope she loves this time of year as much as I do.
12.) Tell me which celebrations you like more: Birthday or Christmas?
Definitely Christmas because it involves everybody and is during the summer. My birthday is always cold and wet.
13.) Use one noise to describe how excited you are for Christmas?
EEEEEEEEEP!
14.) What is the most surprising moment on Christmas?
My mum usually leaves my sister and I little stocking fillers which are always a nice surprise!
15.) What do you like to do on Christmas break?
My husband’s birthday is December 26th, so right after Christmas we celebrate him and then spend a nice few days going on day trips or visiting the beach before New Years. We used to go away every single year during that time but since having Abigail it’s a bit more difficult to do that. Hopefully we can resume that once she’s older.
16.) What Christmas traditions are you looking forward to most this year?
Putting up our tree and my mums. That’s when it really feels like Christmas!
17.) What is the best Christmas gift you’ve ever received?
I’ll never forget being 7 or 8 and opening up my GameBoy Colour with additional game: Pokemon Blue. It was the best gift ever!
18.) What is the worst present you’ve ever received?
I don’t think I’ve ever received a gift so bad it merits being in this post haha.
19.) What is your all time favourite Christmas food/sweet?
I love eating a vegan Christmas roast and any vegan desserts my mum or sister end up making.
20.) What is your favourite Christmas film?
Stay tuned for that Blogmas post!
21.) What is your favourite Christmas song?
All I Want For Christmas Is You
22.) What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
Being together as a family and our traditions.
23.) What makes the holidays special for you?
As above, celebrating with my family and watching my daughter fall in love with this time of year.
24.) What would be your dream place to visit during the holiday season?
Despite not liking the cold weather, I would love to have a White Christmas someday. New York or Moscow would be a dream!
25.) Would you prefer to stay at home with your family or travel with them on Christmas?
I’ve never been away from my family on Christmas so it would be nice to travel with them one year and do a White Christmas. One day maybe?
26.) What’s the best part about Christmas?
Like Q.22, it is being with my family, decorating, eating and celebrating!
27.) When do you start getting excited for Christmas?
November – no joke! I also make sure my daughter gets her photo with Santa in November so the lines aren’t too crazy.
28.) Where do you usually spend the holidays?
As mentioned earlier, we used to travel during the holidays but at the moment we will just go for some day trips around Victoria or visit the beach.
29.) Who in your family does a lot of work on Christmas Day?
We celebrate Christmas Eve so typically my mum and aunt do the most work as they take in terms hosting at their homes every year. My sister and I tend to make food for the day as well.
30.) You have been granted a Christmas wish…what will it be?
It sounds corny but I just wish that my entire family stays happy and healthy and that no matter how many years pass, we always celebrate together.
I hope you enjoyed Blogmas Day 1! I shall see you all tomorrow for another Christmas fun-filled post! Thanks for reading!
Peace & Love xoxo
