Hi all!
Welcome to Blogmas Day 16! Today I am going to be sharing with you 10 things I love about Christmas. I hope that these posts have put you in the festive spirit. They certainly have for me! I really appreciate all the love and support I have received so far. Okay, let’s not delay!
1.) OUR TRADITIONS
I wrote a whole post here about our family Christmas traditions so I won’t go over it again. My absolute favourite thing about the holiday season is the way we celebrate. I look forward to it every single year. We always have the best time and make a lot of memories.
2.) PUTTING UP THE CHRISTMAS TREE
When the Christmas tree goes up, things start to feel real. I love decorating not only my own tree, but also my mum’s which we do every year. I have a post here and here documenting both.
3.) PHOTOGRAPHS WITH SANTA
Once you have a child, Christmas automatically becomes a zillion times more magical and exciting. Even though Abigail is still a bit young to grasp the concept, I feel so festive because of her. This is her second Christmas and in late November, she had her photo taken with Santa. Last year and this year, I bought a package which contained several large photographs (to give out to the grandparents) and little wallet sized ones. It’s so much fun seeing how much she has grown from one year to the next.
4.) THE SPIRIT OF GIVING
I‘m not just saying this: I honestly don’t care if I ever receive a single Christmas present again. I just love giving gifts. I enjoy taking the time to think of things my family and friends would like, finding them and wrapping them. I love seeing their reactions. It’s so special.
5.) THE WORLD TRANSFORMED
It doesn’t matter where you live, once Christmas hits, the whole world begins to decorate. Shopping centres, sidewalks, light-posts, houses, buildings and more are adorned with festive things. I love seeing beautiful Christmas trees everywhere and front yards that feature Santa and his reindeer. It makes me so happy.
6.) CHRISTMAS MOVIES!
Yes, you can watch Home Alone any time of the year, but watching it during December makes it extra special. Christmas specials are usually added to Netflix in late November and festive flicks are played on television the entire duration of the holiday season. You can check out my top five favourite Christmas movies here.
7.) CHRISTMAS SONGS!
You either love or hate Christmas songs. I love them! I like watching Carols by Candlelight and turning up popular seasonal jams on the radio. This is a massively unpopular opinion but my favourite holiday song is All I Want For Christmas Is You from the Love Actually soundtrack. Sorry, not sorry!
8.) CHRISTMAS RECIPES!
I typically try out new vegan recipes during Christmas so I can bring them to my family celebration. I love tucking into a veggie roast or making something sweet. This year, I made vegan butterbeer! You can check out the recipe here. Also, all of the food on Christmas Eve is to die for. I eat so well in December!
9.) SUMMER IS FINALLY HERE!
In Australia, Christmas = summer. We wait for it all year long and when it finally arrives, it’s an excuse to spend more time outside, go to the beach and eat lots of fresh fruit. I love summer and I love Christmas. Getting to have them both at the same time is pretty awesome. Having said that, I would like to experience a White Christmas someday.
10.) LOVE IS ALL AROUND US…
And to end on a super cheesy note, Christmas is a time of love and family. It’s about giving and being together. A lot of people give to charity during December. Others take time out of their busy lives to fly home and spend it with loved ones. It really is the most wonderful time of the year…
What are your favourite things about Christmas? Let me know down below. Do you agree with my list? Thanks for reading and I’ll see you tomorrow!
Peace & Love xoxo
I like the fact that there is no tension in my family during Christmas… It is really special kind of spirit. Wow, Christmas and summer hahah… I would love to experience that one day..
That’s great! I wish there was no tension in families all year round haha. Yes it’s such a strange concept but I really want to experience a cold Christmas!
hahaha it would be good if we could make some magical switch…
