Hi all!
Today I am back with a bonus post! In May, I participated in the first mini round of The Breath of the Wild Readathon created by Caz from Little Book Owl and Red from Little Red Reader. You can check that out here.
If you’re a huge Zelda fan like me, you are going to love this series of readathons based on the award-winning game: The Breath of the Wild. Follow the botwathon page for more details and announcements. As you can see by the title, we are now embarking on a month-long, main quest to take on the Divine Beast: Vah Rhuta. This readathon is running from September 20th – October 20th. Without further ado, here are the rules, challenges and my TBR!
THE RULES
In this round, you need to pick a team. Each team grants a unique perk that you may use only once during the quest to aid your readathon. Your options are:
Team Mipha: One book on your TBR can be used to complete two challenges.
Team Daruk: One partially completed book can count towards a challenge.
Team Revali: Instead of drawing a Blood Moon card, read any book of your choice.
Team Urbosa: You can swap out one challenge from your path with one from another team (any prompt except Vah Rhuta).
I’m going with Team Mipha because the perk and challenges suit my TBR best. Once you’ve picked yours, refer to the map below and the website to source your reading prompts. No matter what team you select, you’ll have to pick up a Blood Moon card with a random prompt to complete. There are also three optional challenges you can take. Warriors should complete challenges in order of their team’s path, starting at The Great Plateau and ending at the Divine Beast: Vah Rhuta. If you obtained the glider in the mini-round, you can use that to complete the reading challenges in any order you wish. If you didn’t, you need to complete the challenges in path order.
THE CHALLENGES – TEAM MIPHA
1.) The Great Plateau – Read a book that is outside your comfort zone.
For this prompt, I’m going to pick up Gogo Mama by Sally Sara. It’s a non-fiction novel, which is a genre I don’t normally read from.
2.) Blood Moon Card – Use the random card generator to select a reading prompt.
I picked up Ancient Sword – re-read a childhood favourite, so I’m going to return to my beloved Sweep series by Cate Tiernan and read Dark Magick. I have loved this saga since I was a teenager and re-read it quite often.
3.) Wetland Stable – Read a book with gothic vibes.
For this prompt, I will read The Summoning by J.P. Smith, which is my You’ll Read Too Bookclub pick for October.
4.) Zora’s Domain – Read a book with sirens/mermaids.
For this prompt, I’m going to use my Team Mipha perk and pick The Deep by Alma Katsu to cover this challenge and the 5th one. The story contains a sea-witch and plenty of water.
5.) Divine Beast: Vah Rhuta – ‘WATER’ buzzword – read a book with water (or any related word) in the title.
See Zora’s Domain challenge above.
BONUS CHALLENGES
I may or may not complete these bonus challenges. They are optional. You’ll find out if I did in my wrap-up next month.
1.) Dueling Peaks Tower – Read a book centered around a rivalry/competition.
2.) Weapon Connoisseur – Each book you read must be from a different genre.
3.) Eventide Island – Read a book in one sitting.
There are a few extra rules and guidelines that were discussed in the YouTube video, which you can check out here.
Let me know if you’re participating. I would love to see your TBR! Thanks for reading!
Peace & Love xoxo
