Drag Expo Australia 2022!

Hi all!

On August 6th, I flew to Melbourne for the weekend to attend Drag Expo Australia with my sister and brother-in-law. We also saw Hamilton on stage that evening – phenomenal! I wanted to review the event, as we all know by now, I am a massive fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race. I got tickets as a birthday present in 2020 but alas, it was postponed due to the pandemic. We initially had meet-and-greet passes to see Manila Luzon but by 2022, the talent list had changed and she was no longer available. Nevertheless, we still saw plenty of the franchise’s beloved queens and had an amazing time. Full photo credits go to my brother-in-law Nick. Without further ado, let’s get into the post!

In order to meet the queens and get a photo with them, you had to buy their personal merchandise. I bought this pin to support Art Simone and my sister bought me the ‘Reading is Fundamental’ pin.
Speaking of Art Simone, we got a photo with her! She was definitely the most popular queen at the Expo, with a long queue of fans swarming her booth.
There were so many beautiful items to purchase from the stalls. Lots of bright colours and of course, glitter!
Designers were able to show off their pieces and sell them

The stunning Olivia Lux!
I got to meet the beautiful Scarlet Envy and watch her show. She was so lovely! Definitely a highlight of the day!
I also got to see Maxi Shield perform on stage. She was one of my favourites on Season 1 of Drag Race Down Under

There was a great panel session for the Drag Kings. They talked about how important it was for them to be represented in the drag scene.
Ruby Slippers had the most amazing booth!

Overall, I absolutely recommend Drag Expo and definitely want to go back when it returns! It was an exhilarating day. Please support your local drag queens!
