We Need To Talk About Evil – Horror Television Show Review!

Hi all!

Today I am back with a bonus post because I simply have to talk about one of my new favourite television shows: Evil. The third season (now on Paramount +) just ended and has been renewed for a fourth. Not only does it feature my favourite actor of all time – Michael Emerson – it is a horror series that speaks to my heart. It follows a clinical psychologist named Kristen Bouchard, who is approached by priest-in-training, David Acosta, with a very intriguing job offer. Together, with the help of a technical expert named Ben, they are tasked with investigating potential paranormal cases. The lines between science and faith begin to blur when events that cannot be explained with logic start to occur.

This is a show that only gets better as it goes along. You will absolutely fall in love with the characters and become attached to them. What I appreciate about this series, is how respectful it is to both religion and science. It does not favour one over the other. In fact, it blends the two in a captivating, yet scary manner. Make no mistake, this is a horror drama. You will feel unsettled. Evil is the perfect title, as we see it emerge from man and demon. Michael Emerson as Leland Townsend makes Benjamin Linus from Lost look like a playful kitten. He is seven shades of wicked. Yet he is once again, the best part of the television program. I recommend you watch the entire first season before deciding to continue further. Each episode relates to the next, always introducing a new case, alongside the regular storyline. Furthermore, the special effects are incredible. I have to commend the creativity of the monsters. There are explanations for everything but you’ll need to keep an open mind. Finally, the characters themselves undergo massive transformations. Kristin Bouchard, our sweet mother of four girls, evolves into a kick-ass, strong woman. Ben, our skeptical technology-nut, softens in the face of love and David, our stoic man of God, wrestles with his own dark temptations. You won’t believe what happens along the way. I could not speak more highly of Evil.

Thank you so much for reading! Please let me know what you think of Evil and definitely check it out if you haven’t already!

Peace & Love xoxo
