Elevator Game – Shudder Movie Review!

Hi all!

Today I am going to be reviewing a new horror movie titled: Elevator Game. As mentioned previously, I really want to make better use of my Shudder subscription, so I have decided to watch/review one film per month from the aforementioned spooky streaming service. Based on the eerie legend, the story follows a teen who links the disappearance of his sister to a supernatural game that takes place in elevators. Without further ado, let’s get into my honest thoughts!

WHAT WORKED:

The ‘Elevator Game’ legend has been around for years. People attempt it in the real world all the time. I think this film did the best it could at making a movie about that very concept. It was spooky, full of tension, and had a modern-day lens, revolving around a group of influencers trying to make it big online. They even covered the topic of sponsorships. The story wasn’t groundbreaking, but it didn’t need to be. It delivered exactly what you would expect. I hope there is a Korean adaptation one day, as that is presumably where the myth originated.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK:

I will admit, the demon woman looked like something you would see at Universal Horror Nights, which took me out of the scary fantasy. Furthermore, if you don’t like cheesy acting and line delivery, this movie definitely isn’t for you. It didn’t bother me though. Don’t expect deep plotlines and character development either. This is just a fun flick to throw on with some pals.

OVERALL STAR RATING:

I gave it 4/5 stars. I base my ratings on how much I enjoyed something, and this film was a solid, spooky good time!

Thank you so much for reading! Have you seen Elevator Game? What did you think of it? I’ll be back to review another Shudder feature next month!

Peace & Love xoxo
