Terrified – Shudder Movie Review!

Hi all!

Today I am going to be reviewing Spanish horror movie: Terrified. As mentioned previously, I really want to make better use of my Shudder subscription, so I have decided to watch/review one film per month from the aforementioned spooky streaming service. The plot follows a series of supernatural events within one neighbourhood in Buenos Aires. Fun fact – it was directed by the same man who did When Evil Lurks. Without further ado, let’s get into my honest thoughts!

WHAT WORKED:

The first act was the best part of the film. It was very gory, violent and as the title suggests, terrifying. There were some really unique scenes, like the corpse boy sitting at the kitchen and the woman being flung from left to right in her shower. I also liked that the horror encompassed the neighbourhood and not just one house. That was a refreshing thing to see in a genre that typically favours a single location.

WHAT DIDN’T WORK:

Whilst the first act was gripping, the second act completely dragged. It took far too long for anything to happen. Even in certain scenes where plenty of action was going on around the characters, a lot of nothing was playing out on the screen. For such a short film, the pacing should have been far better.

OVERALL STAR RATING:

I gave it 3/5 stars. I am on the fence as to whether I recommend it or not. Maybe just check out the first act.

Thank you so much for reading! Have you seen Terrified yet? What did you think of it? I’ll be back to review another Shudder feature soon!

Peace & Love xoxo
